Artist Statement:
As an artist living my whole life among the forests of Massachusetts, it is no wonder my work has come to reflect the natural environment. I have a deep love for and connection with nature, especially the universal forms and patterns which repeat themselves in unexpected and sometimes mysterious ways. As we are living through an environmental crisis, I find it essential to re-establish our appreciation and gratitude for the miraculous mysteries that our earth exhibits including the numerous ways it sustains our bodies and souls. Then we must act quickly in order to reverse whatever damage we can while halting any further degradation of our planet.
As an aspiring eco artist, I have produced a body of work that I hope serves as a catalyst for any action that benefits our ecosystems. Using a variety of mediums and a range of techniques including performative, written and visual art making, my work attempts to emphasize the wondrous ability of nature to heal itself and where we as humans fit into these natural processes including ways we can help in restoration. Providing ways in which we can help the planet heal through the processes of bio- and phyto-remediation, along with various frameworks through which to view nature, my intention is to create influential art that considers the accessibility of these solutions.
