RITUAL AND PERFORMATIVE ART

This is a personal and spiritual practice that I have been exploring recently. I am enthralled with ancient religions, rituals and cultures and spent much time studying this material in grad school. With a feminist perspective and a focus on Neolithic Goddess cultures and Native American wisdom, I create my own ritual objects/costumes and perform my own rituals in my designated sacred space. I am mindful of appropriation; my studies only serve to widen my perspective and ideas of what is possible. I consider my personal connections, triumphs and failures when deciding on the final piece. This work is important to me. It is the art of meditation, journaling, gardening, foraging, praying, soul searching and creative intervention.
