FLUID PAINTING

Fluid painting is a practice I picked up during the pandemic. I was lucky enough to have both the space and time to experiment with different pouring techniques. The biological patterns and designs that resemble cells, mycelium, water, bubbles etc; serve me well in expressing the hidden beauties our ecosystems contain; the same ones which are essential to all life on this planet. Just because something is small, does not make it less important.

There are various “pours” that create different results. The paint mixture for The Tree Ring Pour requires a thicker consistency than the Flip Cup Pour, for example and each one is applied to the surface (canvas/wood panel) differently. Because fluid painting is experimental and full of surprises, this is an art form in which my expectations need to be held in check; I may get what I was aiming for but ANYTHING could happen! Which is also part of the fun!
